Lyle Butler currently serves as the President/CEO of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce, a position he has held since July 2000. Butler has also served as the Chamber President in Dodge City, Kan., and Greeley, Colo.
Butler has other Kansas and Colorado career experiences in banking and radio broadcasting prior to joining the Chamber of Commerce profession in 1990. He is a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Management program at the University of Colorado and a graduate of the Economic Development Institute from the University of Oklahoma.
He is originally from Springfield, Mass. He attended college at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan., and graduate school at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo.
Butler has been very involved in state and local boards in Kansas including Kansas Mainstreet, Kansas Chamber of Commerce Executives, and Kansas Economic Developers Alliance. Locally, he currently serves as a board member and officer for the Manhattan Arts Center; he also serves as a Board Member on the Riley County United Way; Downtown Manhattan, Inc., The Breadbasket, a local food bank, and Board member for the National Institute for Strategic Technology Acquisition and Commercialization (NISTAC). Butler is a 1982 Graduate of Leadership Kansas.
He is married to Christeene and has two married children who live in Colorado with five grand children.
