RepresentativeState of Kansas
Representative Jerry D. Williams was born in Burkburnett, Texas, and grew up on a farm in Cotton County, Okla. Farming is still part of Williams’ life, as he and his wife, Kathy, operate a small cow-calf operation in Neosho County, Kan.
Williams came to Kansas as a school teacher in 1964, and has made his home in Southeastern Kansas for the last 43 years. In education, Williams was a teacher, principal, and superintendent of schools. Williams college degrees include a B.A., M.A., and EDS in education, along with an M.S. degree in Gerontology, the study of aging.
Williams spent over 30 years in the field of healthcare being a hospital administrator and executive director in home health services for the elderly in Southeast Kansas.
First elected to the Chanute City Commission in 1985, Williams public life spans city/county commissions government. He was elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 2000, and is now in his seventh year as a State Representative.
Williams considers it an honor to be appointed to the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility Task Force, and looks forward to his work on the committee for the future of Kansas.
