John Thaemert is a lifelong resident of Sylvan Grove, Kan., where he lives with his wife of 23 years, Shelley, and their two children, Rachel and James. The Thaemerts are owner/operators of J.T. Farms, Inc., a dry land farming and forage marketing operation, and have been since 1974. Thaemert is a Certified Financial Planner™ designee (CFP®) having worked in the financial services industry since 1986. He currently serves as Vice President and Trust Investment Officer for Citizens State Bank & Trust Co., of Ellsworth, Kan. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Fort Hays University and his Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation, School of Financial Planning in Denver, Colo. He is also a graduate of Cannon Trust Schools I, II & III.
Thaemert is the incoming president of the National Association of Wheat Growers and was the past president of the Kansas Association of Wheat Growers. Additionally, he serves as past chairman on the Lincoln County Republican Central Committee, and is the past congregational chairman of Bethlehem Luthern Church. Thaemert is also the past president of Lincoln County Farm Bureau and is a graduate of the Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership (KARL) program, Class I.
