State Senator
Senator Jay Emler is a graduate of Bethany College, Lindsborg, and the University of Denver, College of Law, Denver, Colorado. He was formerly Vice President and General Counsel for Kansas Cellular.
For over 30 years, Senator Emler has been a resident of Lindsborg and rural McPherson County. During that time, he was in private practice for over 17 years, was municipal judge of Lindsborg for over 16 years and spent 10 years as the chief legal officer of Kansas Cellular.
Mr. Emler's public service has included volunteering as an emergency medical technician, administrator of the Lindsborg Volunteer Ambulance Corps, serving on the Lindsborg Community Hospital board of directors, a member of the Kansas Emergency Medical Services Council representing volunteer services statewide, an American Red Cross CPR instructor and chairman of the Lindsborg Chapter of the McPherson County March of Dimes. Senator Emler continues to serve the state as a member of the Kansas Supreme Court's Municipal Judge Testing and Education Committee and the Kansas Judicial Council's Municipal Court Manual Committee, which he chairs.
Senator Emler's wife of 37 years, Lorraine, is a registered nurse. They have two children, Laura 19 and Katherine 16.
