George Heidgerken is President & COO of Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc. (BIVI). He is accountable for achieving the short-term & long-term financial and strategic goals of BIVI. The business areas under his responsibility include USA domestic sales and marketing, R&D, and manufacturing. He began his career at Boehringer Ingelheim in the Vetmedica division of Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd. (BICL). During his employment at BICL, he was Head of Marketing for Swine products and Biologicals, and ultimately became Vice President for the Vetmedica division. As Vice President, Mr. Heidgerken was accountable for the sales and profitability of the Division.
Prior to joining Boehringer Ingelheim in 1997, Mr. Heidgerken was Marketing Manager responsible for marketing and long-term strategic planning for Mallinckrodt Veterinary, from 1995 to 1996. From 1989 to 1995, Mr. Heidgerken worked at Syntex Animal Health, Canada, ultimately gaining the responsibility as General Manager. From 1983 to 1986 Mr. Heidgerken was a sales representative for Pfizer Animal Health.
Heidgerken served as Chairman of the Canadian Animal Health Institute from 2001-2002, and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Animal Health Institute in the U. S. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture and Honors Geology from the University of Saskatchewan.
