Mr. Corcoran joined Fort Dodge Animal Health in 1985 as Division President. He was promoted to Vice President of the Corporation in 1993 with responsibility for the animal health and specialty pharmaceutical businesses. In 1995, he relocated to Kansas City as President of the global animal health business. Mr. Corcoran was a member of the Operations Committee of the Corporation and also served on the Management and Human Resources and Benefits Committees. He retired from Fort Dodge Animal Health on January 31, 2008.
During his tenure, Fort Dodge Animal Health grew from a $28 million dollar domestic company to a global business of over $1 billion, with half of its revenue coming from outside the United States.
Mr. Corcoran is the immediate past Chairman of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the Animal Health Institute, the trade association for the animal health industry. He has been a member since 1999.
In September of 2007, Corcoran received the Animal Pharm Lifetime Achievement Award at the Animal Pharm meeting in London, England. In February of 2008, he was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of South Alabama. In April of 2008, Corcoran will be honored by the American Veterinary Distributors Association with its Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual meeting to be held in Tucson, Arizona.
Mr. Corcoran was previously employed by Diamond Shamrock Corporation from 1970 to 1985 in various sales, marketing and management positions.
Mr. Corcoran graduated from the University of South Alabama with a bachelor of science degree in marketing. He also pursued graduate studies in the MBA Program at the University of South Florida and attended the Executive Management Program at Columbia University in New York City.
Tom Corcoran has three children, Chris, Matt, and Brooke, all of whom reside in the Kansas City area. His wife Barbara is a family practice physician.
