Daniel C. Richardson, DVM, Diplomate ACVS, is currently Vice President, Pet Nutrition Center and Chief Animal Welfare Veterinarian for Hill's Pet Nutrition, Inc. (a Colgate-Palmolive Company) in Topeka, Kansas. He is a native of Manhattan, Kansas. He received an AA degree (1973) from Colby Community College, Colby, Kansas, and his BS degree (1975) and D.V.M. degree (1977) from Kansas State University. He completed a surgery/medicine internship at Auburn University (1977-78) and a surgical residency at the University of Tennessee (1978-81). He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1983.
Dr. Richardson was on the veterinary faculty at Purdue University 1981 to 1983 and North Carolina State University 1983 thru 1990. He has received numerous awards for clinical and teaching excellence at three different institutions, including the Norden Distinguished Teacher Award at both Purdue and North Carolina State University. Dr. Richardson joined Hill's Pet Nutrition, Inc., Research and Development in 1991 where he has held positions of Director of Advanced Research, Director of Research and Vice President, Research.
He received the 2004 Kansas State University Alumni Fellow Award for the College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Richardson is on the Board of Directors and past Chairman of the Board for the Kansas Biosciences Organization (KansasBIO). He is a member of the Biosciences Subcommittee for Senator Robert's Advisory Committee: Science, Technology and the Future, and is on the Board of Trustees for the KU Center for Research.
