Bruce Snead has served on the Manhattan City Commission since April 1995 and began his fourth four year term in April 2007. Snead has also served as Mayor of the City of Manhattan three times, in 1997, 2001, and 2006. He has also been Chair of the Riley County Law Board, President of the Riley County-Manhattan Board of Health, and Chair of the Manhattan Urban Area Planning Board. Snead previously served from 1991 to 1995 on the Manhattan Urban Area Planning Board.
Snead currently serves as a commissioner for the Manhattan Housing Authority, as a Director on the League of Kansas Municipalities governing body, and is the Energy Efficiency Representative on the Kansas Energy Council, an energy policy advisory council created by the Governor of Kansas.
Snead has been a citizen of Manhattan since 1976. As a State Extension Specialist at Kansas State University since 1982, he conducts off-campus technical training, and public education on the issues of radon, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and sustainable communities.
